*You can buy a completely assembled base plate like this one but with all
stainless steel hardware and two flanges from
KIO Technology.
The choice of antenna wire type and cord type can be made by the builder depending
on personal preferences and sources available. Operation of the hexbeam is not
critical to the particular wire as long as it is #14 or #16 gauge.

The Specifications page provides tables for either insulated or bare wire.
The choice of cord type can be made by the builder depending on personal
preferences and sources available. Kevlar cord tends to stretch less but can be
difficult to find. Dacron is perfectly fine but when you measure it out, pull it a bit to allow
for the stretch. Pulling about 5 - 10 pounds is enough to stretch it.
Save yourself a lot of trouble and buy the air coax center post used in the KIO
Hexagonal Beam already built and ready to go. It is an aluminum/stainless steel
model.
